Eccoci al secondo post dedicato a Tramiel ed alla sua Commodore. Come accennato nel precedente post della serie, il PET 2001 è il primo ?personal’ di Commodore. L’acronimo ?PET? è un riferimento diretto all’animale domestico, mentre ?2001? si ispira al celebre film di Kubrik del 1968 e alle fantastiche capacità del computer HAL. Tutte scelte orientate ad accreditare il nuovo sistema come ?assistente personale? nell’immaginazione degli utenti non professionali.

Tanti auguri Commodore 64! Eh si, il Personal Computer più venduto al mondo spegne in questi giorni 30 candeline e di tempo ne è decisamente passato dal gennaio del 1982 quando fu presentato al CES di Las Vegas. I numeri di questo piccolo gioiello sono da capogiro: si stima siano stati prodotti tra i 17 ed i 22 milioni di unità, nelle varie edizioni che lo hanno accompagnato.
